Year Round Protection for Your Home

Rodent Control Only

A licensed technician will come to your home and do a thorough inspection looking for points of entry and rodent activity. After taking all environmental situations into consideration, our licensed technician will set up a rodent management plan specific to your home. The licensed technician will provide you with a detailed report of any structural changes that would be necessary in order to prevent rodents from entering your property. Due to the very small spaces that rodents can squeeze into, we can not always find all points of entry, so we will also set up interior and/or exterior monitors, traps, and/or bait stations. It is best to be on an ongoing rodent control service in order to have the best results. When we come to do your regular general pest control service, we will monitor for activity and reevaluate the plan in order to solve your rodent issues.

Bee Prevention Program

This program is designed for the home that only requires bee and wasp prevention. With the Bee Prevention Program, we will concentrate treatment on the eaves and soffits of your home. By doing so, bees and wasps are diverted from selecting your home for theirs. With this program, we guarantee against structural hive building until the first frost. If you have this service and see paper wasps building a home on your home, just give us a call and we will address the problem at no additional cost to you.

Asian Lady Beetles and Boxelder Bugs

Burr Pest Control will come out every Spring and Fall, as needed, to apply a treatment that creates a barrier about one to four feet away from your home and goes all the way up to the roofline. That way, asian lady beetles and boxelder bugs that try to make a landing on your home will not become a permanent resident. We recommend having this service twice the first year and every Fall each year after. Asian lady beetles natural prey is the soy bean aphid. In the Fall, when the crops are cut down and the weather cools, asian lady beetles are looking for a sunny spot to warm themselves. They’re also trying to find a new home for the Winter… yours. Having your home treated before asian lady beetle season helps significantly decrease activity levels. In addition, the same service deters these pests from hiding in the siding of your home and resurfacing in the Spring.

Fleas

Burr Pest Control offers detailed treatment of fleas utilizing an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) which prohibits their ability to reproduce. Unlike most of our treatments, we do require all residents and pets to leave their home for about five to six hours to allow the product used to settle before your arrival. This treatment requires a great deal of cooperation on your part. You’ll need to vacuum all surfaces continuously before we come. You’ll also need to make sure all food and dishes are put away and pick up as many items or clutter possible enabling us to treat the most area. Children’s toys should be put away and covered up. Of course, if you have any pets, you’ll want to have them treated by your favorite veterinarian. We recommend one follow up service in order to fully break the life cycle of the fleas.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are becoming more and more common every day. It used to be that when one of our customers called us thinking that they had bed bugs, we would simply suggest an inspection as bed bugs were rarely the culprit. But over the last few years, things have changed significantly. Bed bugs have become much more common and much more immune to many types of treatment. If you’re being bit at night and believe you may have bed bugs, we strongly recommend visiting a dermatologist to find out what type of bites you have. In addition, you’ll want to become educated about this pest. Due to how recently infestations have become an issue, many pest control providers are inadequately trained and grossly underestimate what it takes to truly manage these pests. Burr Pest Control has been investing countless hours in research and training for all of our licensed technicians. We have serviced homes, hotels and universities. If you’d like more information about bed bugs, go to www.bedbugcentral.com.

Wood Destroying Insect (WDI) Inspection

This inspection is mainly used for the purchase or sale of a home. Our state licensed technicians will do a thorough inspection of all visible areas of the home including the interior and exterior in order to find any evidence of wood destroying insects, mainly termites or carpenter ants. They will then fill out a WDI report for the requesting parties. Whether you are buying or selling your home, this is a great way to feel more confident in your purchase or in your homes value.

Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants are a common pest found in our area. Carpenter ants are many times found when a wall or window sill is removed. You may also notice something that looks like sawdust, which is called frass. This is a sign that carpenter ants are present. Because carpenter ants usually live in the voids of a home, it is very difficult to find the nest. Therefore, we recommend a detailed first service that we call a “clean out”. We will inspect and treat all areas, as needed. In addition to this service, we strongly recommend going on an ongoing Healthy Home Maintenance Plan in order to continue a preventative treatment and to keep activity levels as low as possible. Carpenter ants are a wood destroying insect and should be treated accordingly. Many times carpenter ants are coming from trees that are close to the house or have overhanging branches. It is always a good idea to keep the overhanging branches trimmed back. If you do happen to open a wall or window sill and see ants scurrying and piles of frass, give us a call and we will send someone out as fast as possible. This will help prevent them from spreading and you may have found the nest! Carpenter ants usually like moist wood, so if you notice any leaks are water issues, it is best to repair those problem areas as early as possible.

Termite Pre-Treat

Termites can be found in this area. With new home or business builds, a termite pretreatment is always a good idea. Our licensed technicians will come out and apply a liquid that will soak into the ground in order to protect your investment. Pricing is based on the square footage of the area being treated. Ten year warranties are available with this service.

Termite Post Construction

So you have termites… Rest easy; we will take care of your home. We have two plans of action for the treatment of termites. We provide a liquid treatment or a baiting system by Sentricon®. The time tested liquid treatment creates a barrier in the soil between the invading subterranean (under ground) termite colony and your home. The alternative treatment is called Sentricon® Termite Colony Elimination System. It is an entire system that represents the very latest in termite science and is an award-winning technology that takes advantage of natural termite behavior, using the termites themselves to destroy their entire colony. For more information about Sentricon®, please visit www.sentricon.com. Sentricon® is a more “green” approach than a liquid treatment, but both are effective methods of control. We also recommend an ongoing termite renewal program. The programs are different depending on the approach being used, so just ask your licensed technician for more information.

Mosquito Control

Mosquito control is enormously helpful during those big events like outdoor weddings, parties, receptions and so many more entertainment events. You will notice a reduction of about 95% of mosquito activity once the service is completed. Keep in mind, though, once the vegetation is altered by mowing, growth, and/or landscape changes, the product loses effectiveness. Therefore, this treatment is a great idea for those big outdoor events, but is not recommended as a long term solution.

Nuisance Wildlife Trapping

Burr Pest Control is known for having one of the best wildlife trappers in the area. In the state of Illinois, having a license for wildlife trapping is required by law and can come with hefty fees for anyone trapping without one. Whether you’re having problems with raccoons, snakes, squirrels, chipmunks, groundhogs, or any other wildlife issue, we can help you out. If we can’t catch the culprit while we’re there, we’ll set a trap for it, check it daily, and take it away once it has been caught. We’ll also notify you of any structural issues we find in order prevent future wildlife problems.

Moles

Moles are landscape destroying machines. They can take all of the money, time and energy you’ve invested in your beautifully landscaped yard and turn it into a bumpy wasteland. There is light at the end of the tunnel; it is called Talpirid. Our licensed wildlife trapper will come to your home and place Talpirid in the areas necessary. The results are effective and your landscaping will be beautiful again!

Bats

Whether you have one bat or more, Burr Pest Control can help. If you know exactly where a bat is located and you need it removed, we can take of it for you. If you frequently have problems with bats, then we recommend bat exclusion. This is when we would block all points of entry except for one. Bats normally have one main point of entry. In that spot, we install a one-way valve. Bats can fly out, but they can’t get back in. Bats cannot be poisoned in the state of Illinois, so we do exclusion work instead. If you have a bat in your home, don’t swat at it. Bats fly by radar and have very poor vision, therefore swatting at bats actually confuses them and you are more likely to run into one. If you’d like to try to get a bat out of your home, open a door or window to the outside, make sure the bat is in an enclosed area by shutting the room door, and leave as many lights on as possible. Bats prefer to be in the dark, so the more light available, the more uncomfortable you make them. As day turns to night, the bat will prefer going outside to staying in a well lit area.

Snakes

Snakes can be removed from inside your home by using a pheromone. The pheromone draws the snake to a selected area so it can be caught. In addition to catching what is already in your home, we would also put down a granule around the perimeter of the home that snakes will not cross to prevent any more snakes from getting in.

Dead Animal Removal

Burr Pest Control understands that at times dead animals must be removed from your property. Just give us call and we will take care of it as immediately as possible.
